No, this is not a photo manipulation and no textures were used for the scenes, only the fabric texture on the background and scarf. This was all hand painted.
Journey is a fantastic game by ThatGameCompany. I highly recommend you play it. It is truly beautiful and a one of a kind experience. Don't research it, just do it. You will ruin it for yourself if you look up the details.
There is one more scene that I painted early on that ended up not fitting into my final composition.

Originally, I formatted this to fit a 1440 X 900 resolution, But I didn't like how it looked, so I cut a bit off the top and bottom. It would still work well for a wallpaper though
